Poker has become globally acclaimed as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several types on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no conniving or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the dealer declares "No further bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course every one of the different gamblers are given 5 cards. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to either make a call bet or surrender. The call wager’s amount is akin to your original ante, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your bet goes directly to the bank. After the bet is the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with an amount in accordance with the original wager. If the bank does have ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The house pony’s up chips equal to your initial bet and controlled odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
