Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
