Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
