Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
